The Process
The first step in the process is to book a free of charge preliminary phone call to discuss your needs and provide you with information about our services. During this call we will determine if you require a behavioural consultation or training and advise you accordingly. Although we will briefly discuss your pet's behaviour during this call, it will not be the focus as this is not a behaviour consultation. Rather, we will be focusing on how this is impacting you and what your goals are so that we can advise you on a suitable package to meet your needs. This phone call can be booked via the online calendar without any previous contact with the clinic and our clients are under no obligation to commit to behaviour or training sessions after the call.
Pet Behaviour Counselling
Following the preliminary phone call, if you would like to go ahead with the behaviour package recommended for you, then we do require the Vet Referral Form, Behaviour Questionnaire and our Terms and Conditions form to be completed and returned to the clinic before any clinical behaviour sessions can be undertaken. Additionally, we will create a personal OneDrive folder for you to upload videos of the behaviour(s) you are experiencing and would like help with. This will give our behaviourists the opportunity to observe these behaviours and understand the extent to which they occur prior to visiting the clinic.
Our pet behaviour consultation room is set up as a fully furnished living/dining room. This allows you to feel comfortable whilst enabling us to see those problematic behaviours you experience at home such as barking at the doorbell/visitors. It is equipped with CCTV cameras for educational purposes and for monitoring behaviours, which is particularly useful for working on separation related issues. Most sessions will involve some discussion in this room, and then we may move to our indoor or outdoor training areas to work on training activities to help you with your pet.
1-2-1 Training
Our behaviourists or trainers will work with you and your family on an individual training plan for your dog. This is ideal if your dog struggles in group class situations or you have particular goals that are best met with private tuition. We are happy to work with the whole family and can accommodate any particular needs that you may have – just speak to us during the preliminary call to find out more. Please note that veterinary referral is not required for 1-2-1 training, however, you will need to sign our terms and conditions.
